🧠💖 When Heart Runs the Show

Another crazy and jumbled idea but it totally works! Let's journey together...

So Brain and Mind have decided to take a walk, leaving Heart all on its own. That fool is dancing about, happy to be in control, It will set itself ’racing, all caught up in ‘feelings’, ignoring danger.

But guess who’s the first to cry foul ?? Yes, exactly, Heart.

Loves drama... but at the first sign, it will freeze in shock, then start crying and refusing to eat, recalling every single slight and crying again!!

Then, it will get angry, accusing Brain and Mind of not protecting it, of dereliction of duty. 🙄

'‘Y’all know I’m not so smart!’' it will scream in hysteria.

Brain and Mind will stare in amazement.

'‘But we did warn you... we always warn! YOU never listen!’‘

''I’m not supposed to listen! I do what I was created for.’'

They look at each other, familiar with this routine. I guess we’re in for another bout of Regret, Anger, and Misery.

'‘Yup,'’ replies Brain as he spies the trio already on their way. And soon the doorbell rings.

Mind opens the door but stands in the doorway.

'‘Here again, I see,’' he remarks sarcastically.

'‘Get out of the way,’' Anger replies tersely.

Misery quickly adds, '‘Heart called, it wants our company.’'

Mind steps aside, knowing it is an impossible situation. Brain steps forward, patting it on the back. ''Come on! Let’s leave them to it. Soon enough, Heart will realize this is not what it wants or needs,'' they said, and the two walk out, leaving the others in the house.

'‘Somewhere sunny?’' asks Brain. '‘Sure,’' replies Mind, '‘but not too far in case it needs us.’' They nod in agreement and leave.

Meanwhile...

Heart revels in the company of Misery, Anger, and Regret. Then one day, it wakes up and looks around. The house is in a mess. It rushes to open the windows.

'‘Fresh air, please!’' And it begins to clean the place. It picks up the calendar that has fallen and is surprised to see months had gone by.

'‘What??’ it exclaims, "it's been this long? But that means Brain and Mind have been gone awhile!"

It is mortified for allowing things to get this far. So, it starts going into each room, flinging the doors open, and orders, "Anger, out!"

'‘Fine,'’ Anger says. ‘'But I know you’ll be calling me again soon,'’ as it slinks away.

Next is Misery. ‘'Surely I don't need to go....as you know, I love comp…’'

Heart shuts the door in its face, then turns to find Regret hovering by the door.

"I can go now too, but perhaps it’s best I stay, only till Brain and Mind…"

Heart agrees, and both start to put the house back together.

It was about six weeks later when Heart woke up feeling stronger and wanting to get out. It decided to go for a stroll.

On its return, it knew it was time, so it calls Regret into the living room.

Even before it starts speaking, Regret asks, "Time?" Heart nods in agreement. '‘Brain and Mind are already on their way.’'

They bid each other farewell. Heart waits eagerly for its friends. What a reunion it was! They renew their pledge to protect each other, although Heart continues to visit Regret secretly, intermittently.

Then one day, it decides not to go visit Regret again. The other two breathe a sigh of relief, and soon things return to normal.

A few months later, the phone rings, and Heart rushes to pick it up. ‘'Hello?'’ it says, just as Brain and Mind come into the room on their way to the kitchen.

'‘Yes...it was nice meeting you too. The book? I received it, I would read it and we can discuss'' Heart nods a couple of times and rings off.

It heads towards the kitchen to join the others, a secret smile on its face.

The two regard Heart not saying anything. It starts to make a cup of tea just as the phone rings again. Heart rushes over to pick it, leaving its meal uneaten.

Mind watches as Heart paces the living room, it remarks, ‘We better watch this one!'

''Hello''... Heart says, a wide smile spreads across it's face.

‘Oh oh,’ said Brain and Mind at the same time, ‘Here we go again!’

Heart glances back and replies, ''Don’t be like that! It’s just a call about a book. What could possibly happen?!''

Then, turning to the handset, smiling, it says softly, ‘No, you go first!’

Reflections

We all have times when we leave Heart unsupervised and face regret afterwards , but even those moments help us grow. Heart may not always listen, but with Brain and Common Sense nearby, things eventually return to balance.
