Books and Quiet Spaces

I do believe to be a good writer, you have to be a reader.
Often, when I get stuck, I pack up my manuscript and go reading. Paper books or audiobooks, I lose myself in other worlds, and almost always, find the way back to mine.
But breaking through on a platform, whether TikTok or Facebook, I feel like the new girl.
No, not a new girl, a toddler learning to take those first wobbly steps. I balance hope and anticipation until gravity inevitably does its thing.
Down I go.
My optimism deflates a little with the silence on my page, not one reaction, not one sign that someone was here.
So I oscillate between giving up and sticking with it. Rome was not built in a day, I remind myself.
I dust off my fingers, figuratively of course, and start tap, tap, tapping away on my phone again.
Who knows, maybe this will be the one. And if you find yourself here, leave a little mark behind. A like, a wave, a comment.
Be my Good Samaritan.
